As we conclude another school year, I want to express my sincere thanks for a job well done. This has been another tremendous year of success for our students. I am grateful for the role you played in the lives of our students this year. I hope you are able to take a break sometime this summer to rest and recharge for next year.
On Friday, May 24, 696 members of the Lake Travis High School Class of 2019 walked across the stage during our commencement ceremony. We are proud of their accomplishments and wish them the very best as they take their next steps. To every member of the LTISD family, I say “thank you” for your role which contributed to the success of these students. I want to commend and thank Principal Gordon Butler and the LTHS staff for an outstanding ceremony and program Friday night. A great deal goes into planning that event and it was exceptional in every way. We were all especially grateful for dry weather!
In case you are not aware, the LT Cavalier baseball team will compete this coming weekend as one of eight teams remaining in the regional playoffs. They play Laredo Alexander Thursday and Saturday in San Antonio. Best of the luck to these players and coaches as they compete on the road to the State Tournament!
Finally, the 86th legislative session came to an official end on Monday. We are currently working with our state contacts to determine exactly how our district will be impacted by changes made to school finance. Our first priority is to evaluate our ability to provide a salary increase for all staff next year. We hope to have a much clearer picture and options for our school board to consider when our trustees meet for their regular meeting on June 19. It is our hope to communicate their decision as soon as possible.
In the meantime, I hope you have a wonderful summer. Thank you for your hard work this year. Thank you for taking such good care of our students. Thank you for your dedication to Lake Travis ISD. I look forward to seeing you at Convocation on Wednesday, August 7, 2019. Go Cavs!
